To the London City Council and the Citizens of London, Kentucky:

It is with deep gratitude that I submit my resignation as Mayor of the City of London, effective July 12, 2026. This effective date is intended to provide the City Council sufficient time to ensure a smooth transition and appoint someone to serve the remainder of my term.

Serving as mayor has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. I will always be grateful for the trust the people of London placed in me and for the opportunity to work every day to make our city an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.

When I first took office, I promised to serve with dedication, integrity, and a genuine love for this community. Together, we accomplished so much. We invested in infrastructure, strengthened public safety, expanded economic opportunity, improved city services, and laid a foundation that will benefit London for years to come. Those accomplishments were never the work of one person. They belong to our city employees, our council, our community partners, and the citizens who believed in what we could achieve together.

I will always be humbled that the people of London again placed their confidence in me during this year’s primary election. That expression of trust is one of the greatest honors of my life, and I remain profoundly thankful to everyone who believed in our shared vision for this city.

Our judicial system has now spoken, and while this is not the outcome I had hoped for, I respect the rule of law, the judge, and the decision of the court. With that chapter now behind us, it is time to look ahead. My optimism for London’s future has never been stronger. Our city is filled with hardworking people, thriving businesses, dedicated public servants, and extraordinary potential. I have every confidence that London’s brightest days remain ahead.

My sincere hope is that this transition marks a new chapter of unity and renewed focus on what matters most: serving the People of London. Our People deserve leaders who work together, treat one another with respect, and remain committed to moving this community forward. I believe that future is well within our reach.

To the individual selected by the City Council to serve as mayor, I offer my sincere congratulations and best wishes. I hope you lead with humility, integrity, and a servant’s heart, always remembering that this office exists to serve the people of this remarkable community. I stand ready to do anything I can to ensure your success, because your success will be London’s success.

To the employees of the City of London, thank you. It has been an honor to serve alongside such talented and dedicated public servants. Your professionalism, commitment, and pride in your work have made our successes possible, and I know you will continue serving our citizens with excellence.

Finally, to the People of London, thank you for the extraordinary privilege of allowing me to serve as your mayor. Thank you for believing in me, encouraging me, praying for my family, and standing beside us throughout this journey. I leave this office with immense gratitude, lasting friendships, treasured memories, and an enduring love for this community.

Although my time as your mayor is ending, my commitment to the City of London never will. I will always be cheering for this city, supporting its future, and believing in the people who make it such an extraordinary place to call home.

May God continue to bless each of you, and may He continue to bless the City of London for generations to come.

Respectfully,

Randall Weddle

I have to brag on my little sidekick! He never hesitates to jump in and serve alongside this incredible team. They call him the “Little Mayor” today he definitely earned the title. Thank you for helping! thank you to City Tourism you knocked it out of the park once again with another outstanding event!

I’m also incredibly proud of the City of London team. Despite having fewer employees on hand, everyone stepped up and did an outstanding job managing traffic and keeping things running smoothly. Your hard work, dedication, and teamwork did not go unnoticed.

Proud to serve alongside each of you. Team London!
