I’m attaching some tips for the cold temps coming, but most importantly I’m attaching a video for how to shut off your water at the street. Usually you don’t know your pipe is burst till after the thaw. Stay safe and be prepared ❄️🥶

Home & Pipes
❄️Insulate: Cover exposed pipes in unheated areas (crawlspaces, attics) and insulate outdoor faucets.
❄️Drip Faucets: Let cold water drip slowly from faucets furthest from the main water line to keep water moving.
❄️Open Cabinets: Keep cabinet doors under sinks open to let warm air reach pipes.
❄️Maintain Heat: Keep your thermostat at least 55°F (higher is better, around 60-68°F) to prevent pipes from freezing, even if you're away.
❄️Shut Off Outdoor Water: Turn off outdoor faucets and drain hoses.
❄️Close Garage Doors: Keep garage doors closed to protect pipes.
❄️Safety & Preparedness
Emergency Kit: Have water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, and blankets ready.
❄️Stay Informed: Monitor weather forecasts closely.
❄️Dress Warm: Wear layers, hats, gloves, and warm footwear, even indoors if needed.
❄️♥️❄️Check on Others: Check on elderly neighbors and bring pets indoors.
❄️Emergency Heat: Use safe indoor heaters (like electric or vented wood stoves) with caution, and never use generators indoors.

Winterize: Check antifreeze, battery, tires, wipers, and defrosters.
❄️Pack a Kit: Keep blankets, water, food, a charged phone, and a first-aid kit in your car if you must travel.

What an amazing night celebrating with The Walton Tribune. I was chosen as the Community Spirit Award winner and had the honor of being with so many other award winners last night! I was completely caught by surprise and immediately humbled that out of so many deserving people they chose me. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to stand with other award winners. Having some of my family and friends there to celebrate topped off the night! I’m especially thankful my mother at 84 can drive down from NC to celebrate as well!
