We are proud of our Piano Lit Class for their wonderful presentation at the Research Symposium!

“As part of our grad piano lit class, we have been studying Beethoven’s sonatas to really become familiar with the oeuvre as a whole. The students split up the 32 sonatas into 10, 11, and 11 for each to do deeper research and analysis, and they learned a lot from their peers’ sharing their respective researched sonatas as well. The ladies explored the music from many different angles, but for this presentation they primarily looked at each sonata’s opening material. We read a lot about Beethoven and his music, and listened to recordings; the ladies had a hard time narrowing down their findings to just one element of each sonata for spotlighting in the presentation. They had also prepared to demonstrate all of their excerpts live at the piano! These 2-3 minute presentations you see from each student are just a tiny snapshot of the huge amount of work they have done - they were prepared to present at this level about any of the 32 sonatas!”
