Presenting our final introduction of the season…..

Anna is originally from Canton, GA, and is a Crew Leader based out of our Logan office! She served a Crew Member term last year in Moab and loved her time in the desert.

She joined UCC because she wanted to be on the front lines of conservation efforts, and to be able to feel like she can make a difference in improving our environment. This year, she’s looking forward to helping others discover how fun and fulfilling this work can be! Plus, she’s always excited to use chainsaws and fell trees.

During her off time, she enjoys hiking, climbing, swimming, painting, and knitting – and just running around outside.

▪️Hitch Necessity: Nalgene with hot water in her sleeping bag

▪️Favorite Hitch Meal: Pesto pasta

▪️Hidden talent: Spotting small, camouflaged creatures

We’re so happy you came back for a Crew Leader season, Anna! We hope see lots of small, camouflaged creatures this summer 🤓

We’re ONE WEEK away from the start of our summer season, and we’ve got a few more awesome Crew Leaders to introduce! We can’t wait to finally meet our new members.

Lucas is a Cedar City Crew Leader originally from Stonington, Connecticut. He’s always been drawn to the West and the outdoors, and joining UCC gave him the opportunity to combine those interests while pushing himself mentally and physically through conservation field work.

This year, he’s excited for all the new places he’ll see, the people he’ll meet, and the skills he’ll continue to learn. He’s especially enjoyed the problem-solving aspect of chainsaw work and felling trees safely and efficiently. He finds improving habitat by removing invasive species really satisfying, and enjoys learning about the ecology of the areas he works in.

During his days off, Lucas spends a lot of his free time training for this October, so he’s usually in the gym, swimming, biking, or running. He also enjoys writing, taking photos, and watching old movies.

▪️Hitch Necessity: Running shoes. Running before or after work helps him reset mentally, stay prepared physically, and explore more of the places he’s working in.

▪️Favorite Hitch Meal: Spicy ramen – not the individual packs, but the fully loaded group dinner version with eggs, bok choy, chicken, bamboo shoots, peppers, and onions. Hard to beat after a long day of hard work!

▪️Movie Recommendation: Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky

We’re glad you joined UCC, Lucas! We hope you have a great summer.

Our next FLT was blown in by the Wyoming winds…🥁

Isaac is a Field Logistics Technician based out of Logan! He was a Crew Member with us last summer and fall, and came back as an FLT for further career development. He initially joined UCC to work outside somewhere new after a season with the Wyoming Conservation Corps.

This year, he’s excited to watch people learn from the ground up and grow throughout their season. He loves working with chainsaws and is very passionate about fences. During his time off, Isaac likes to ski and climb.

▪️Hitch Necessity: Really big camp chair (as big as possible)

▪️Favorite Hitch Meal: DIY bagel sandwiches

Thanks for coming back for another season! We’re glad you’re here
