Historical Guild 209

BREAKING NEWS! The historic 1874 W.T. Garrett Foundry bell that rang from the steeple of St. Anne’s Catholic Church (the first Catholic Church in Lodi) has been found by thr Lodi Police Department!

We can’t wait to hear the story behind its recovery. We issued a reward for any information but the LPD was on top of it. It’s unfortunate that the bell has been damaged.

Yesterday, someone stole our historic church bell. We’re heartbroken — this bell has been part of our church family for generations.

We’re praying for those who took it. If you have any information, please contact the Lodi Police Department right away.

LATHROP - Historical Guild 209

A Clash of Davids … The infamous duel that probably caused local 209 pioneer Chief Justice David Terry’s ultimate death in Lathrop in August 1889. One wonders if Terry hadn’t “proved” his reputation with that duel 30 years earlier that the US Marshall and bodyguard David Nagle may not have had such a heavy trigger finger.
