Park County Rural Fire District 1

Effective this afternoon, open burning within Park County Rural Fire District #1 is CLOSED until further notice.

Forecasted temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s, with relative humidity values dropping into the teens. While our area has received moisture recently, fine fuels are rapidly drying, creating conditions that increase the risk of fire starts and rapid fire spread.

Out of an abundance of caution and in response to the changing fire conditions, the District is suspending open burning until conditions improve.

Updates will be provided when open burning can safely resume.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Their courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting others continue to leave a lasting impact across the fire service and in communities everywhere. Their loss is felt not only by their families and crew, but by every firefighter who understands the weight of answering the call.

As members of Park County Rural Fire, we remember their service, reflect on their sacrifice, and carry forward the values they stood for—brotherhood, selflessness, resilience, and duty.

May we never forget the 19 firefighters who gave everything on that day.

TRAINING NOTICE

Park County Rural Fire District #1 will be conducting several training burns (vehicle fire simulations) at the Training Center this evening.

Residents in the area may notice smoke, flames and firefighter activity. This is a planned training exercise, and there is no cause for alarm.
