In Guatemala, women like 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐳 are helping shape a more sustainable future for their communities.

Through Heifer International Guatemala's 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐭 (𝐆𝐁𝐁) 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭, Carmelina has participated in trainings that are helping farmers strengthen spice production, improve forest management and build green enterprises that create new economic opportunities.

The project supports 37 communities and 36 farmer-owned agribusinesses across Alta Verapaz, empowering producers to add value to their products, earn higher incomes and protect the biodiverse forests their livelihoods depend on.

As we celebrate Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)'s Year of the Woman Farmer, we're honoring women like Carmelina, whose work is strengthening livelihoods, communities and the environment.
