How do you encourage pedestrians, runners and cyclists to use a new pathway? With an engaging and celebratory public artwork, of course. For Love of Chattanooga, artist Ebony Bolt took inspiration from the people, places and activities that she encountered in the neighborhoods connect by the city’s Walnut Street Bridge and Veterans Bridge. The design consists of four sections organized around riverfront themes: art, nature, recreation, and shopping. Bolt’s colorful collages also include “easter eggs” that celebrate the people, places and culture of the city.

Greater St. Louis, Inc., is seeking an artist to create an artwork for the area under the I-44 overpass at Tower Grove Avenue as part of the Tower Grove Connector, a new 1.4-mile protected bike path. Budget is $150,000. For more information see link in bio.

The newest Site See installation – *Break Water* by Nekisha Durrett – reflects on the overlooked narratives of Black lives tied to the Potomac waterfront in Alexandria. The centerpiece evokes the sidewheel of the steamboat the River Queen, a vessel that symbolized Black ownership and opportunity until its mysterious destruction by fire in 1911, shortly after its purchase by Lewis Jefferson, a Black entrepreneur. On view through November.
