When someone is living with memory loss, the whole community matters.
A confused older adult at a borough office.
A caregiver who is exhausted but still trying.
A family member who notices changes in a parent but does not know what to do.
A librarian, staff member, neighbor, or volunteer who wants to help but is unsure how to respond.
These are the moments Family Touch is preparing communities for.
Our dementia response training comes directly to your community, offering practical, compassionate guidance for caregivers, families, and people who work with or encounter older adults in everyday settings.
Family Touch has already hosted more than six dementia response workshops, including with Leonia Borough, Age-Friendly Leonia, and other community partners.
What makes our approach different is that it is not theoretical. Our Executive Director is a former long-term care administrator with real hands-on experience supporting individuals with dementia and memory-related challenges. That experience helps us focus on what families and frontline community members actually need: clear guidance, cultural sensitivity, practical tools, and reassurance.
Our Certified Dementia Practitioner-led workshops teach participants how to recognize symptoms, respond to confusion, reduce safety risks, manage difficult moments with dignity, and protect caregivers from burnout.
At Family Touch, we believe older adults and caregivers should not feel alone. They deserve to feel seen, respected, and supported by the communities around them.
Together, we can build more dementia-responsive communities.

Have we shared lately how deeply qualified โ and deeply committed โ our Family Touch team is?
Our senior wellness and health navigation work is led by staff who bring not only professional expertise, but genuine care for every older adult and family we serve.
Registered Nurse Hyesook Kwonย guides community members through their health needs with clinical knowledge and compassion, helping them navigate care and feel less alone in the process.
Certified Dementia Practitioner Miyoung Kimย leads our Senior Program and Dementia Response Training, equipping families, caregivers, and community workers with practical strategies they can use in real-life situations.
And they keep growing. Both staff members recently completed training through theย Bergen County Department of Health Services, becoming certified peer leaders qualified to lead theย Chronic Disease Management Program. This program supports older adults managing ongoing conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and more.
What makes Family Touch different is that our work is community-rooted, culturally informed, and grounded in relationships. We do not just provide information. We walk alongside older adults and families with practical tools, encouragement, and care.
We are proud of our team for continuing to grow, learn, and lead โ so our community can be healthier, stronger, and better supported.
