Interested in talking about "Daughters of the Sun and Moon," the new book by the acclaimed and bestselling author Lisa See? Then you're in luck! We'll be hosting a special one-off in-person Book Club about this book on Saturday, July 25 at 11 AM. Join us to discuss the new book in the library's Fir Room.

And why are we doing this? Because Lisa See is coming to Lincoln, of course! She'll be here on Thursday, July 30 for a special in-person Author Visit with Lisa See. The event starts at 6 PM, and the doors open at 5:30 PM. This is a FREE event, open to everyone, and will be taking place in the Grand Ballroom at the Orchard Creek lodge in Sun City Lincoln Hills.

We hope you'll join us for this special in-person evening with the acclaimed author. Lisa See will be in Lincoln for a live discussion of her new book, with an audience Q&A afterward, and book signing afterward. Books will be sold onsite, through Barnes and Noble, while supplies last.

There's a prestigious film adaptation of an 8th century BCE epic narrative poem, directed by Christopher Nolan, and featuring a star-studded cast. Of course we’re doing a contest!

Are you a nerd for Greek mythology or the works of Homer? If so, this is your moment to shine. Or, a great chance to see how much you remember from learning about these characters and this story in a class at some point.

The contest is open now through Saturday, Aug. 1. How do you enter? Just pick up one of our Odyssey character contest sheets in the library and answer a very simple question: Who is your favorite character (or characters) in The Odyssey, and why? You can also email us your answer at libraryatlincoln.org. It can be your favorite character from the original epic poem, or the film, or any other adaptation.

We will pick some of our favorites to win special Odyssey prize packs (spoiler: it’s going to feature books), provided by our Friends of the Lincoln Public Library.
