I encourage anyone with a windows 10 home pc to make sure you have DEVICE ENCRYPTION turned off.
In version 1703, Microsoft began turning this on by default if you connected to a network. The key gets stored in your Microsoft account. Once that DEVICE ENCRYPTION is on, you could be unable to retrieve anything off your computer if something happens. Many things can cause this problem.
Just click on the START BUTTON and begin typing:
DEVICE ENCRYPTION.
You will see that as a choice in the menu (little gear beside it).
Click to open.
Then click TURN OFF.
I can't think of any scenario where the average user on windows 10 home wants this on.
It can only go bad.
