SHOW YOUR LOVE AND NAME THAT FAVORITE TRACK! 55 Years Ago Today, George Clinton and Funkadelic released their 3rd studio album in 1971, the groundbreaking Maggot Brain.

Maggot Brain was produced by bandleader George Clinton and recorded at United Sound Systems in Detroit during late 1970 and early 1971. It also was the final LP recorded by the original Funkadelic lineup that included founding members Tawl Ross (guitar), Billy Nelson (bass), and Tiki Fulwood (drums). Of course, there is also Bernie Worrell (keyboards, vocals), Eddie Hazel (lead guitar, vocals), George Clinton (vocals), Raymond Dais (vocals), and backing vocals by Fuzzy Haskins, Calvin Simon, Grady Thomas, Garry Shider, and Hot Buttered Soul (Pat Lewis, Diane Lewis, Rose Williams).

NAME THAT FAVORITE TRACK! 16 Years Ago Today, Prince released his 35th studio album 20Ten into the world via a covermount with the Belgian newspapers Het Nieuwsblad & de Gentenaar and also the British newspaper Daily Mirror.

It was the same way that he distributed Planet Earth and an ingenious way to boost the sales numbers, which would later be contested as whether they were "legitimate" sales. Subscribers should consider themselves blessed. Later on July 22, it was also be included with the German version of Rolling Stone.

While Prince did have a 20TEN tour, very little of the album was ever played on the road with only a few exceptions. The album also featured a hidden track called Laydown at track 77. Tracks 10-76 were silent.

NAME THAT FAVORITE TRACK! 36 Years Ago Today, Morris Day and The Time reunites after many years to release their 4th studio album Pandemonium. Like Ice Cream Castle, it was released in tandem with their appearance in one of Prince's movies. This time, Graffiti Bridge which actually featured tracks from the band this time around.

The album started as a project by Prince and Morris Day called Corporate World, but many pieces were simply repackaged for this new project for The Time. Also, for this album, the band had significantly more input into the songwriting with only 5 of the tracks (including segues) being primarily written by Prince. The rest had major contributions from other Time members (mostly Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Jesse Johnson, and Morris Day). The tracks without times listed below were written without involvement from Prince.

Like the Original 7 project that followed many years later, there were disagreements and contention among band members which led to the promotion of the album being cut short. But fans of The Time were ecstatic to see new material from one of the baddest bands to ever do it.

OMG. These AI images of Prince are starting to tick me off. The best way to fight this is to ignore them. Even commenting "This is AI" is considered engagement and pushes the posts out to even more readers. Creating AI videos and images of unknown people is one thing, but falsely using Prince's image to make false photos has GOT to be enforeceable from a trademark or IP protection angle. Maybe the Estate can actively fight this instead? I would post examples but that would make me complicit. You've seen them. Every day.

NAME THAT FAVORITE TRACK! 30 Years Ago Today. Prince released his 18th studio album Chaos and Disorder. It showcased major contributions from NPG members Michael Bland and Sonny T on 8 of the tracks and also Morris Hayes and Tommy Barbarella on 6.

While it was Prince’s final album under the contract with Warner Brothers, WB would still release The Vault... Old Friends For Sale afterward. While it only reached position 26 on the charts, Chaos and Disorder is considered one of his most underappreciated albums featuring fan favorites like Dinner With Delores, Zannalee, Dig U Better Dead, and others. It was released alongside of the Purple Rain soundtrack since songs like The Bird and Jungle Love were prominently featured in the hit film. While all of the songs were predominantly written by Prince, there were also significant contributions from both Morris Day and Jesse Johnson.

The album only features 6 tracks although others were considered including Feel U Up and Irresistible Bitch (according to Jimmy Jam) and also Chocolate and My Summertime Thang that ended up on their 4th album Pandemonium which wouldn't be released until 6 years later.

GOT A FAVORITE TRACK? On this day in 1995, Prince as O(+>, put together a cassette called The Versace Experience, Prelude 2 Gold. Only 300 copies were created for attendees of the Versace showcase for Paris Fashion Week.

On April 13, 2019, the Prince Estate recreated the cassette for Record Store Day (11,000 of them), but the original 300 Cassettes are highly sought after by collectors.
