What an incredible few days at Sisco D Ranch!

This past week we had the pleasure of hosting Tim and Brittany Godwin from North Carolina for a 4-day adventure in the Texas Hill Country. Brittany’s goal was to harvest both an Axis doe and an Axis buck, and with beautiful sunny skies and a light breeze taking the edge off the Texas heat, the stage was set for a memorable hunt.

Day 1 started strong. As the sun began to set, an Axis doe stepped into range and presented Brittany with her first opportunity. She settled behind her 6.5 Creedmoor and made a perfect shot, checking the first animal off the list before the evening came to an end.

Day 2 was filled with excitement as we encountered many of the incredible species that call Sisco D Ranch home. While the wildlife certainly kept us entertained, the Axis had other plans and stayed just out of range throughout the day.

By Day 3, anticipation was running high. We watched Axis moving throughout the evening, hoping one of the mature bucks would finally make a mistake. As the last vestiges of daylight began to fade, a beautiful Gold Class Axis buck stepped into the opening and offered Brittany a nearly perfect broadside shot. She remained calm, squeezed the trigger, and made an outstanding harvest while Tim and I watched it all unfold.

It’s hunts like these that remind us why we love what we do. It was truly a blessing to be a part of creating these memories with Tim and Brittany.
