More publicity for Lexington!

Ninety minutes away from downtown Detroit, a set of Motor City entrepreneurs is leaving a mark on a 19th-century village snuggled up against Lake Huron.

Nary a chain restaurant in sight, the village of Lexington boasts about 1,000 or so year-round residents. But the population swells by maybe two-fold or more during the warmer months.

“Lexington has always had a tie to metro Detroit, being a little over an hour away,” said Max Garbarino, the village manager since December, who has been visiting Lexington since his childhood when his grandmother lived in the area. “They call it cottage country for a reason.”
