🚗 Airbag Light On? It Might Not Be the Airbag.
A common cause of an airbag warning light is a bad clock spring in the steering wheel. Since airbags can't be safely tested with a standard multimeter, we use a resistor that mimics the airbag (2-3ohms of resistance) and allows us to check the wiring as if the airbag were in place. Proper testing helps us find the actual fault and avoid replacing parts that aren't bad. Today we used this exact method to diagnose a 1993 Mazda Miata with a flashing airbag light.
