A couple weeks ago, a proclamation from and designating October as “Cancer Education and Prevention Month” was presented at an event at ’s Albert Chandler Hospital to recognize two innovative Markey Cancer Center programs: the ACTION Program and SHE in Oncology.

Both programs prepare Kentucky high school and undergraduate students for careers in cancer research and clinical care, with an emphasis on Appalachian Kentucky.

The Markey Cancer Foundation proudly raises money to support these important programs, furthering the mission to provide unique opportunities for students in Appalachian Kentucky interested in tackling Kentucky’s cancer crisis.
