At Capital Concrete, one piece of that commitment looks a lot like regular company safety meetings.
If you are looking for a safe job site, let our team's dedication work for you.

Employee Spotlight Q2 2023: Randy Washington, Lexington Driver

Hometown: Columbia, SC

Began at Capital: February 2022

About Randy:
I grew up in Columbia and graduated from Dutch Fork High School. I am part Geechee with family from the Mt. Pleasant to James Island area. I have been married 5 years and have 3 beautiful girls, the oldest 2 are twins. We have 4 dogs- 3 chihuahua/Jack Russell mix, 1 pit bull/chow/lab/retriever mix.

Passions and Interests:
Cooking- I got into cooking when I was about 14- I went and saw Bobby Flay doing a competition in Columbia and that was really when I got into cooking. I started watching Food Network all the time. I am now a certified chef. I used to be very into Louisiana style cooking, cajun alfredo is my favorite to make, but recently I have been dabbling heavily in Asian style cooking.
Poetry- I really enjoy poetry and I have written 6 books of poetry for my wife.
Technology- I love computers and dabbling in cybersecurity.
Music- I listen to almost all music except for some country and no bluegrass, otherwise I like basically everything.
Additional Interests- mountain climbing, deep sea fishing, and anime
Favorite Sports Teams: Atlanta Falcons, USC Gamecocks, and the sport of swimming in general
Favorite Vacation: My wife and I love going to Myrtle Beach and going to Medieval Times
Favorite Music While Driving: Going to a job I like to listen to hip hop, R&B, and a little bit of rock. Coming back to the plant I like to listen to classical and heavy metal.

Work Background:
I was installing industrial windows but decided to get into driving. I was doing flatbed OTR & regional driving for a fuel and cement tanker company. I decided I wanted to do something that would put me home every night, concrete intrigued me because it was different. I mostly made the move into concrete at Capital so I could be home more with my wife and daughters.

What is Your Favorite Thing about Capital?
My two favorite things about Capital are the flexibility and the environment. With flexibility, they work with you for time off and various schedule needs, and also offer opportunities to learn different things. The environment at Capital has a homey feel, not a corporate feel-- laid back but also appropriately strict.

Quote from Manager:
“Randy is a hard worker and always willing to volunteer to help out. He is a very kind and funny person, always smiling and having fun with lots of jokes and little pranks here and there.” - Chris Kleinsasser, Lexington Plant Manager
