Today, Delaware celebrates Separation Day which happened on June 15, 1776. Representatives of New Castle, Kent, and Sussex counties voted to end our political ties both to the British Crown and to Pennsylvania’s proprietary government. We became an independent Delaware government a few weeks before the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. And here in Lewes's on that day, we became the first town in the first state.

We had the pleasure of dining with Richard H. Moore, his wife Kathy, and their neighbors. During our dinner conversations Richard shared that he had done a documentary about life in Lewes in days gone by. I find it hard to believe that this wonderful film has never been show cased in some way so that Lewestonians could enjoy this wonderful film. Here is the link

To say that election season is heating up is certainly an understatement. I spent the day in the oppressive heat knocking on voters doors. Those that answered their doors were kind enough to invite me in and offered me a drink. This is truly a great community.

Three very busy days of canvassing this week, followed by an informative meeting with the Sussex Preservation Coalition.
We heard a presentation from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control on the importance of preserving Delaware's forests and wetlands.
A key topic was SB 9, legislation that establishes Delaware's first combined regulatory program for both tidal and nontidal wetlands.
With recent changes to federal wetland protections leaving thousands of acres of nontidal wetlands vulnerable, SB 9 helps ensure these critical natural resources continue to be protected through a unified state permitting process. The goal is to prevent the long-term loss of wetlands that provide flood protection, improve water quality, support wildlife habitat, and strengthen environmental resilience.
Protecting our natural resources is an investment in Delaware's future. Thank you to everyone working to preserve the landscapes and ecosystems that make our state special.

I had a wonderful day canvassing today, even with the heat. Spending time in the community, meeting neighbors, and hearing directly from voters is one of the most rewarding parts of running for office.
I was encouraged by the many people who told me they support my campaign, and I enjoyed the opportunity to put up more campaign signs throughout the district. Every conversation reminds me why I chose to run and strengthens my commitment to serving our community.
One of the highlights of the day was meeting a local author who generously gave me a copy of her book and even autographed it for me. Moments like that make campaigning about so much more than politics—they are reminders of the talented, thoughtful, and caring people who make our district such a special place.
Days like today are the very best part of campaigning, and I am grateful for every conversation, every word of encouragement, and every opportunity to connect with the people I hope to serve.
