Let’s say you’ve entered all of your transactions for yesterday in your check register and calculated the new balance in the account. Then you sign in to your banking online, and the bank shows a different balance…
If you’re adding together a set of numbers, and the result is not what you expected, try this little tip:
If the amount of difference is EVENLY divisible by 9 – it could be a transposition error. For example, you entered 52 instead of 25 – a difference of 27; which is evenly divisible by 9.
