The Free State Guinea Pig Rescue

This is Bear and he belongs to a lovely friend. He decided he didn’t feel well and stopped eating. He’s been receiving sub Q fluids, small force feedings of Critical Care and a hearing pad. He finally started popping over night! Yay for small wins!

I have some lovely sweet single boys that are looking for their forever home. Some might be willing to make friends! Names are on photos. Girls will be posted tomorrow!

I wanted to give a shout out to the staff and students for the generous donations to the rescue on Thursday! (Pardon the delay, I’m in the middle of a bunch of important meetings with work)

On this beautiful late February, I took 10 Guinea pigs to Metropolitan Community College Vet Tech program. The students spent an hour or so practicing their exam skills on Guinea pigs. Nails were trimmed, hearts checked, weights taken, learning about neurological symptoms and eyes examined. The students laughed and giggled with a squeal when Latte peed on a student in protest. 😂

The Vet tech program in the college is amazing and run by wonderful people. Thank you for a wonderful morning.
