Wick's RV Inspection, Consultation, Repair and Solar Installer
So I have learned a certain large RV dealer do not conduct their own PDIs (Pre Delivery Inspection) You might ask what is a PDI well, An RV Pre Delivery Inspection is precisely what the name implies. It’s an examination of a new or used unit intended to make sure everything functions as it should before handing it over to the BUYER. PDIs are meant to give the new owner reassurance and confidence in the RV they are buying. So I learned that some manufacturers are doing the PDI before it is delivered to the dealer. So let's walk through the logic on this. Dealer buys RVs from Manufacturer the Manufacturer offers a screaming deal to this huge national dealer on the RVs if they let the manufacturer do the PDI before they ship it to one of their many dealers. In turn the dealer takes delivery of this RV and has roughly 40 minutes to do a walk through and sign for the RV and there is no other inspection done before the BUYER purchases this RV. I will not name any manufacturer or dealer but I will tell you it is happening and the last few weeks majority of my calls for repair are on Brand new units. When I am called out the first thing i ask is did you have this inspected before purchasing and why should they it is Brand New. Unfortunately, people also fail to read the fine print, that the warranty that comes with that new RV is only valid at a Service Center and requires you to return it, to sit and wait to be fixed. RV techs are not covered and are only covered by third party insurances. If you bought an insurance plan from the dealer it is very likely that only covers their service center or one of their affiliated service center. So while you are enjoying that awesome vacation and you need something repaired but they tell you to bring it back, remember what you bought. The RV life and vacations are awesome and I love helping people enjoy their vacations. Education is key before doing anything and buying an RV is no exception. 1- have your RV inspected by a certified RV Inspectors or even a veteran RV mechanic 2- Buy the third party insurance Especially if you are full time. 3- Ask the Dealer for the PDI inspection checklist and who inspected the RV at that dealer. If they cannot provide that information, immediate red flag and walk away or you can call me because I love helping people out and I like staying busy and employed.
