The Puzzle Box

This week’s field trip took us to Deer Creek Lake, and it may have been our favorite field trip yet! ☀️🌊

Our clients spent the day swimming, laughing, exploring, fishing, and making memories together. It looks like all fun, but behind it all, there was so much meaningful learning happening too

Every outing is an opportunity to practice important life skills in a natural environment. Throughout the day, our clients worked on:
🌊 Practicing social interactions and conversations
🤝 Taking turns and sharing
💙 Encouraging and cheering on friends
🧩 Problem-solving together
✨ Being flexible when plans changed
😊 Waiting patiently, following group expectations, and so much more…. but most importantly they were creating memories side by side.
These are the moments where skills learned in therapy come to life. Watching our clients gain confidence, connect with one another, and succeed in real-world settings is one of our favorite parts of what we do.
We’re so proud of every child for stepping outside their comfort zone, trying new things, being brave, supporting one another, and making this week’s field trip such a special adventure.

Some goodbyes just don’t feel fair. 🤍

Today we said “see you soon” to our sweet Trinity as she starts a new adventure in Washington. There weren’t many dry eyes in the building because when someone leaves a piece of their heart with every child, every family, and every teammate, you can’t help but feel it.

Trinity, thank you for the love, patience, laughter, and kindness you’ve poured into our Puzzle Box family. You have made such a huge impact that will continue long after today. We all love you so much, especially your kiddos! 🫶

As we were all trying to hold back the tears, one of her clients said something that perfectly captured what all of us were feeling:

“I never said I had a favorite staff… but you were my favorite. And I won’t cry because it’s over, I’m crying because it happened.” 🥹

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. This is why we do what we do! Our clients build these beautiful relationships and friendships with their staff!

Washington is incredibly lucky to have our Trinity Girl, but we’ll miss her more than words can say. Once a Puzzle Box family member, always a Puzzle Box family member.

Sometimes the best moments aren’t on the schedule. ☀️🍧

Today called for a spontaneous shave ice field trip because at The Puzzle Box, we believe that when we work hard, we get to play hard too. 💙

Our clients spend so much time learning, growing, practicing new skills, and overcoming challenges. Celebrating those victories, big and small, is just as important.

What a beautiful start to summer at The Puzzle Box! ☀️ We kicked things off with a Pancake Bar that our clients helped create, enjoyed a fun day at the park, and continued what is now becoming a Puzzle Box summer tradition, tie-dyeing shirts together!

There’s something special about watching friendships grow, confidence shine, and memories be made through simple moments of connection and fun! Community outings and group activities also provide wonderful opportunities to build and generalize important social skills, such as sharing, turn taking, advocating for oneself, manding, respecting personal space, and so much more in natural, meaningful settings!

Here’s to a summer full of so much laughter, adventure, and finding places where every piece fits. 💙
