Katz For Chair
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors meeting this week was tense, and I'll have more to share on that soon. However, there was a very bright spot in the meeting as well, worthy of amplification, and representing some of the very best of Loudoun.
Meet Play4All - a group of super impressive Willard Middle School
kids helping to create more inclusive playgrounds in Loudoun County. They are raising money for a wheelchair swing which costs $25K, having already raised $19K through bake sales and other fundraisers over the past couple years.
Check out their presentation to the Board of Supervisors this week. You can find contact information about how to help them (including website and fundraising links) in the 🧵👇
These kids represent the very best of Loudoun, and what local governance and community building should be about. Well done, Play4All, well done! 👏👏👏
Since my letter to Loudoun Now, I've received many expressions of shock and outrage that Chair Phyllis J. Randall could allow this to occur in the boardroom.
Here is a sample of just *one meeting* from last year. Everything ranging from denials and justifications of Oct 7 atrocities, incendiary rhetoric, calls for divestment, and more. They even have *children* participate.
There is no place for hate in Loudoun County. Yet Chair Phyllis J. Randall refuses to address it.
The silence is deafening.

🚨 Enough is enough.
Loudoun County Board of Supervisors meetings sound like Harvard or Columbia encampments ever since anti-Israel (really anti-Jewish) speakers started attending after Supervisor Juli Briskman issued her vehemently antisemitic press release last year. The Jewish community has been sounding the alarm on this ever since, warning that such rhetoric precedes violence. Now, Supervisor Koran Saines opened the aperture for divestment talks and Supervisor Mike Turner accused Israel of war crimes.
The next day, two Israeli embassy employees were executed in DC. This weekend, Jews were attacked with Molotov cocktails. The rhetoric that incited the assailants to violence is no different than that which is heard in the boardroom. It is small comfort that these attacks did not occur in Loudoun.
Chair Phyllis J. Randall and the board of supervisors must confront this head on, and stop allowing this rhetoric to go un-rebuked.
Antisemitic, incendiary rhetoric has no place in Loudoun County. And it is well past time the board made this clear.

Here she goes again. These statements from Loudoun’s Supervisor Juli Briskman are historically inaccurate, ignorant, and a blatant attempt to (once again) wrongly co-opt the Holocaust to push a personal or political agenda.
So here’s a history lesson, Juli:
Those persecuted by Hi**er weren’t looking to stay in the countries where they were being rounded up. Nor were they attempting to enter N**i territory illegally.
To the contrary, they were looking to leave to avoid being murd3r3d, not deported.
There is zero equivalence between Trump immigration policies and Hi**er. The only thing statements like yours do is attempt to diminish the significance of the Holocaust. Doing so is as repugnant as it is insensitive, especially at a time when the Jewish community is under constant attack.
Sadly, there is a modern-day N**i regime hell-bent on slaughtering Jews. You could make all the Hi**er comparisons you’d like, but nah…. don’t want to upset your friends, right? 🙄

Well that’s rich. Supervisor Juli Briskman is suddenly interested in evidence of waste fraud and abuse.
Okay, Juli, here’s some (link in comment):

A 🔥 letter from Marc Nodell regarding Loudoun Supervisor Juli Briskman and her vile comparison of the Holocaust to immigration policies, and how antisemitism only matters to her when she wants to talk about something else entirely.
Well done, Marc đź’Ş

Some people never learn.
It is bad enough that Supervisor Juli Briskman issued a flagrantly antisemitic press release last year which was the catalyst for the pro-terror, anti-Israel (really anti-Jewish) mob coming to Loudoun BOS meetings.
It is bad enough that she has not condemned the antisemitism which has been amplified in the county by these speakers, nor their attempts to institutionalize it into county policy.
It is bad enough these anti-Israel speakers publicly praise her, and yet she remains deafeningly silent in denouncing their support (read: she wants their support).
But now, Juli Briskman, the self-adorned “keeper of the flame”, has the temerity to invoke the Holocaust as part of a false equivalency with immigration policies. And during Holocaust Remembrance month, no less.
Juli, let’s make something perfectly clear: Disagree with these policies all you like, but no one is sending anyone to forced labor extermination camps. No one is one is being starved, tortured, r***d, nor forced to watch any of this happen to their families. No one is going to be murdered. No one is going to gas chambers. No one is going into ovens. So stop diminishing the magnitude and severity of the Holocaust by falsely equating it with policies you don’t like for your personal and political gain. It’s shameful, betrays the memory of the 6 million Jews murdered by the N**is, and makes you appear ignorant at best and unintelligent/uninformed at worst.
Also, if you’d like to see as close to a modern day example of this as possible, then pay attention to today’s hostage release. Their captors are the real modern day N**is, possibly worse.
And above all else, stop pretending that you actually give a damn about the Holocaust or Jews. You’ve had ample opportunity to support the Jewish community during a time of unprecedented antisemitism (and locally in no small part due to your irresponsible and divisive actions). And yet, have done nothing.
It doesn’t take much to understand why.
It has come to my attention that many Loudoun families were on the DC plane crash last night. Many of Loudoun’s best and most talented. Adults and children.
Please say a prayer for their families and keep them in your thoughts.

There is now proof that Phyllis Randall and the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors lied about sister city revenue, and an investigation is warranted. Please read my letter to the editor on this topic.

The recent statement by Supervisor Juli Briskman about Gaza was factually incorrect, divisive, and entirely inappropriate. Here's how it happened, why she did it, and what the board should do.
Please see my below article to Loudoun Times-Mirror on this important issue.
Katz: Why Briskman did it and Loudoun’s antisemitism problem Dangerous antisemitism has targeted the Jewish community since Oct. 7, when Hamas butchered 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped and brutalized hundreds more. Ostensibly “pro-Palestinian,” these demonstrations have shown themselves to be
