A few times a week someone asks me or my staff why we’re not listed by the BBB or the Better Business Bureau.

Most of you probably don’t know this, but the BBB is a paid organization that solicits funds from businesses to give ratings of excellence. At least that’s what everyone hopes for.

The BBB contacts me twice a year and tries to get me to buy a membership. But here’s the thing. I don’t need to pay the BBB $400 per year for them to tell me my agency and staff are excellent. We already know that we are excellent. What’s worse is, if we weren’t excellent, whether we paid for membership or not, you can still submit complaints to the BBB for non-members. There’s really no benefit for spending the $400.

With that said, we are closing in on nearly 10,000 clients at the two agencies I own. Every single one of those clients has access to my personal cell phone number. We don’t maintain our excellence by paying $400 to the BBB, we maintain it by keeping an open channel to you, our valued customer. If you have a problem that management can’t resolve, if it’s possible to fix it, call me, and we’ll get it fixed.
