Due to the elevated risk of an outdoor fire today, all recreational and open burning permits for the City of Lee's Summit are suspended for the weekend. The use of any outdoor open flame appliance is strongly discouraged, and please dispose of smoking materials appropriately.

Record-breaking early-Spring heat, combined with extremely dry conditions, will lead to critical fire weather conditions in northeastern KS and northwestern MO today. Highs are expected to reach the low to mid-90s this afternoon. Cooler weather moves into the area Sunday – Monday, with above normal temperatures returning through the end of next week.
