Shining Light Music

Today’s Teacher Spotlight: Kathy Forste is a very talented musician who teaches guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, banjo, and ukulele! She has taught for around 20 years and has been part of Shining Light Music since 2020. Kathy was born in St. Louis and grew up in Troy, MO. She holds a degree in Broadcasting and a minor in music from UCM. Her favorite musical of all time is South Pacific, and she’s happy to have been able to see Paul McCartney perform live several times! Kathy’s best advice for a student is, “Practice every day. Make a habit of playing. And... most importantly, have fun!”. Kathy has a true passion for music, and her favorite hobby is to collect vinyl records and CD’s.

Today’s Teacher Spotlight: Sophia Payne has taught at Shining Light Music since 2018. She has played piano for 35 years and has taught for 20. She went to school at UCM and received a Bachelor of Music with emphasis on piano performance, and Master of Arts with piano performance. She then went to Northwest State University where she received a Master of Arts in music education. Sophia is looking forward to traveling this summer. She also enjoys cooking and any song by Bruno Mars!
