One year ago today Merritt + Cole celebrated their July 5th wedding by putting the finishing touch on their fresh millefoglie cake together. The red berries, white powdered sugar, and blue blueberries made for the perfect patriotic dessert and an unforgettable reception moment. Did we mention it was delicious?!

Call us crazy, but if a wedding vendor is sharing about how beautiful a wedding day was…the gallery should probably include photos of the couple. 🤣

Wedding days aren’t made of things, they’re made of people. Families, friends, and friends who feel like family. The details are beautiful, but they’re there to complement the story, not be the story.

That being said, Libby + Tanner’s wedding day was full of everything above. An overcast October sky gave us the dreamiest light, paired with the kind of crisp fall weather that reminds you exactly why you chose to get married in October. And when you have Valerie Matthews behind the camera, you know every moment is going to be captured beautifully: the big ones, the quiet ones, and all the in-between moments that make a wedding day unforgettable.

We loved this couple, loved celebrating alongside their families, and loved every second of a day that felt as genuine and joyful as they are.

Every wedding is different however there are things that apply in most cases: the reception is always a hot mess of a good time filled with controlled chaos in the best way 👏🏼 The pictures are usually a little blurry and so are the memories but they’re so much fun!

Kate + James opted for one of our favorites: the wedding party and their parents used silver streamer poppers while the rest of the wedding guests tossed rose petals. 10/10 recommend!
