Faculty, Occupational Therapy Assistant Program 04/10/2026

We are hiring!

LBCC's OTA program is currently seeking an exceptional OTP to join our faculty team as the Distance Education Coordinator. This position is being recruited to replace our former Program Director and current Distance Education Coordinator, Mashelle Painter, whose longstanding leadership has significantly contributed to the success and growth of the program.

As our program continues to grow, we are committed to preparing future practitioners who are innovative, compassionate, and ready to meet the needs of diverse communities. This is more than a teaching role—it’s a chance to mentor future OTAs, bring fresh ideas into the classroom, and make a meaningful impact on the profession. We are especially excited to connect with practitioners who are passionate about student success, grounded in current practice, and ready to lead and inspire.

If this sounds like a good fit for you—or someone in your network—please consider applying or sharing this opportunity: https://www.jobs.linnbenton.edu/postings/15105

Last week, our first-year students had the valuable opportunity to participate in Legislative Day at the state capital, actively representing and promoting the occupational therapy profession.

Legislative Day provides students with meaningful exposure to the intersection of healthcare, public policy, and professional practice. Throughout the day, our students connected with OT and OTA students from across Oregon, strengthened their understanding of the OT/OTA supervision relationship, and heard updates from the Oregon Occupational Therapy Licensing Board regarding licensure and regulatory considerations. They also toured the Capitol and observed legislative proceedings in action.

Several students had the opportunity to meet directly with state legislators and legislative staff to share personal perspectives, highlight the role of occupational therapy assistants in supporting clients across the lifespan, and advocate for policies that promote equitable access to high-quality care. These conversations reinforced how legislation and regulation directly influence clinical practice and underscored the importance of professional advocacy.

Experiences like Legislative Day empower OTA students to recognize their role not only as future practitioners, but also as informed and engaged professionals with a voice in shaping healthcare policy and advancing the profession.

We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the collaboration with fellow programs across the state, including George Fox University OTD, Pacific University OTD, and Western Oregon University OTD.
