Thought for the Day

When my wife was giving birth to our children, I became very familiar with the concept of labor pains. This morning, while thinking of the nearly 4,000 of you reading this email before heading off to work, I thought, we are all having labor pains this morning.

Monday! Work! Duty! Labor! But there should also be something in every godly man that knows there is no reaping without sowing, no payday without a work day, and no great accomplishment without great effort.

So, as you begin your day, tap into the courage and strength of God's Spirit, and by His grace make the best of it. Labor nobly, honestly, and expectantly, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Thought for the Day

Lessons that come easy are usually not lessons at all. They are simply acts of chance. Yet lessons learned the hard way are lessons that are seldom, if ever forgotten.

Some men look at the foolish choices they made and the painful consequences that resulted and conclude, "I am such a loser! There's no hope for me!" That may be one way of looking at it, but another way is, "I really messed up. But today's a new day. I will learn from my past mistakes, get the help I need, which will make me less likely to repeat them."

The message of your past does not need to become the prophecy of your future. The God you know and serve has declared, "Behold, I am making all things new" (Revelation 21:5 ESV).

Live in that hope today.
