Get to know our Team Tuesday!!

This week we are highlighting our very own CEO and Founder, Andrew Marquardt!

This last weekend Andrew participated in a local charity event called "Dancing with the KC Stars benefiting Cristo Rey of Kansas City." Dancing with the KC Stars has been an annual event whose proceeds benefit high school students with economic need and opens the door to private, college- and career-prep education.

We asked Andrew some questions to get to learn more about what went into preparing for the event. Read more below!

What led to you being a participant and how long ago were you asked to be involved?
"My daughter works for TIVOL, and TIVOL has been a huge supporter of the Cristo Rey school for years. They asked me to participate about 6 months ago."

How many times a week did you practice and how many hours total do you think went into your routine?
"My dancing instructor/partner and I met to practice our routine 2-3 times a week. I would say overall 40+ hours went into learning the 2 1/2 minute routine. I thought it sounded short at first, but the pros say that's what they do on TV and with anything longer people tend to lose interest. It was hard work, I was wiped out but definitely worth it."

What was your favorite part of this event?
"I enjoyed getting to be involved in something that makes a large impact on future generations. Especially for those in our community. The money raised from this event makes a difference for students and being able to be a part of that is exciting. It was fun getting to learn the once in a lifetime dance.

What would you tell others that might be asked to volunteer?
"I would encourage them to do it! It's not always easy to find the time to get involved but if given the opportunity, take it! Getting out of your comfort zone can be a good thing, and being involved and volunteering to help others around you is rewarding."
