Helpful Tip of the Day
When I was a baby my mom was told that babies needed to be on their stomachs, now we know that sleeping on their back is better so I wanted to write this recommendation to parents of young children. Starting with the babies, lay them on their backs and some will do just fine, others my not sleep as well and you'll have to lay them on their side. Since the head is as wide as the shoulders there isn’t stress on the neck but as the shoulders become wider as they grow, you’ll want to try to train them from that habit. In my house as my kids grew into toddlers, our nightly routine would be to sing or read and pray with them but they had to lie on their backs. And of course toddlers really want you to do that, they will comply. Have them hug a stuffed animal or pillow against their face and they will sleep longer on their backs. Having children sleep on their backs will help them to grow straighter and have less back and neck issues as adults.
Helpful Tip of the Day
Many people have back pain from mild to severe when simply bending over in the bathroom sink to brush their teeth or when they are doing dished in the kitchen. One way to take the strain off of your back is to every so slightly bend your knees and lean against the counter. This takes the pressure off of your back and onto the legs....or just don't brush your teeth, I know a great dentist!!!
