More experimentation and shaping with larger pieces of clay. Still loving the Monarch clay. It’s messy, and it’s a delight to work with.
For this batch I’m aiming for 15 - 20 pieces before I bisque fire. The batch will include some planters and kitchen tool holders. And maybe some simple spoon holder cylinders (because we use the ones I’ve made so far every day).

Glaze combos: Deep Sienna Speckle over Palladium; Combos of Textured Turquoise, Indigo Float, and Honey Flux
That lovely plant pot is from the clever people at - I have them all over my house. Self-watering, special design to help the roots grow and prosper, my plants look amazingly good.
My latest batch. My lovely wife Debbie says she thinks that the first vase with the red grooves is (one of) the best I’ve made. I’m very happy with the colors and shapes, overall. A couple of them were experiments that didn’t come out quite the way I’d hoped, but I’m still happy. :)

I do love the .clay White Stoneware, and have been experimenting with quite a few other clay bodies. So this batch includes both the SIO2 clay and reclaim that includes it and other clays. And now I’ve started glazing the bottoms with the Stroke & Coat Hot Tamale (SC-74) and putting it into the grooves and on the chattering.
I’m continuing to use the chattering tools from and the trimming and shaping tools from , , , Xiem, and .
What you see here is me pushing myself to slightly larger pieces (the big ones are ~3lbs) and smoother and more consistent bowl shapes (~1lb).
Mostly .clay Speckled Stoneware. I admit that I don’t love speckled clay, and had to sand down the speckles on the parts that weren’t glazed.
And the assortment of glazes and techniques? Oh my!
Amaco, Mayco, Kentucky Mudworks, Coyote, plus I didn’t show you the bottoms where I put Speedball Reds (2 different reds) for the first time.
So while I probably won’t do speckled clay again, I love the shapes I explored. Some of these pieces are the PRAI White Stoneware (like the one I marked as my favorite) and I love it.
There are four custom pieces that aren’t included. Three tries at making herb st*****rs and a “jar” for a woodworker friend of mine who makes kitchens tools (he wanted something to put the tools in).
I learned a lot. Many of them have multiple layers of 3-4 glazes. The ones with the spots (and a couple of others) have spots of Amaco Honey Flux to encourage running and color blending as I’ve seen on a number of reels, but they didn’t work the way I expected.
Now I get to make some more!!

Back in my shedio. More clay from .clay but this time it’s their PRAI White Stoneware. Much smoother than either their Speckled Stoneware or the Loca Mocha.
Now I have to decide whether I’m going to throw and trim a few more (it comes in 27 lb bags, so there’s 21 lbs left) or let these and everything else dry and bisque fire them all. Torn.
