Headshot photography on the surface may seem simple and straightforward, but in actuality it is an art form that requires a high level of detail and connection with your subject/photographer. Because the focus is only on the face, we must be keen to micro expressions. The eyes tell the story.

I always look for genuine eyes. As the photographer, it is my job to make you feel comfortable enough in front of the camera, so I can capture the real you.

Some important qualities that you should look for in a headshot photographer are

2) understands your point of view or personality
3) understands your audience or market
4) sensitive to concerns you may have about your face
5) can create a unique and flattering style through lighting, colors, textures, and authentic expressions
6) really fun and open to new ideas.

Those are just a few things to keep in mind as you're searching for the right photographer for you. I know it can feel incredibly intimidating and vulnerable in front of a camera. It takes a bit of courage to put your face out there for all to see and judge, but it can be a fun experience to just let go and trust that the photographer you've chosen has your back, or face.
