📍 HESA on the Road! 🚗✨

September 30th, HESA took a group of 14 students to visit Washburn Institute of Technology (WIT) in Topeka and Neosho County Community College (NCCC) in Ottawa!

At WIT, we met with alumni Chaz Havens and Marie Hall, along with Dean Scott Smathers, to learn about Career & Technical Education (CTE), student success initiatives, and innovative programs like SB 155 Excel in CTE and the Second Chance Pell Grant. We also had a great discussion about serving diverse student populations — including those reentering education from correctional facilities.

After lunch (thank you, Marie & Chaz! 🍴), we headed to NCCC to connect with alumna Jennifer Sprague and her colleagues to explore workforce development, online learning, and the many nontraditional paths that lead to higher education careers.
