Doug Woods for Sheriff, Kansas law enforcement needs another strong leader!

I have known Doug since 2016, when two of our officers were shot and killed in the line of duty. After the first death, a commander from another jurisdiction asked me how I was doing and I told him, “I don’t have a clue.” He replied, “You guys are going to be okay. Tomorrow morning at 8am Doug Woods is going to arrive at your office and he will help you guys get through this.” In a daze I said, “Okay” and thanked him. At 8am the next morning Doug Woods arrived and he absolutely helped our Department through one of the most horrific incidents I have ever had to deal with, and then he did it a second time when we lost our second officer in the line of duty just 10 weeks later.

As Sheriff, Doug Woods will be passionate and carrying about the people he will serve. Doug Woods is a servant at heart and as Sheriff he will be a servant leader. He has been in law enforcement for over 30 years and will bring a plethora of experience to the Sheriff’s Office. Doug Woods is highly respected by leaders in Kansas law enforcement. Doug Woods for Sheriff is the clear choice!

To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to take this opportunity to express my strong support for Doug Woods, for Sheriff of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office election in November 2020.
I have been in law enforcement for almost forty years in the State of Missouri and Kansas. Thirty-five of those years had been spent with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Because of my experience as first an agent and then, the Special Agent in Charge of the Overland Park, Kansas regional office I dealt with various local, state, and federal agencies. One of the most important things that I learned during this time period was that relationships with law enforcement was the key to doing the job and task of protecting the citizens of our communities and State. For all of us that worked in the field of law enforcement we all realized how we each needed the full cooperation of each other to full fill our sworn duties. It was extremely important that each agency maintained a positive working relationship to successfully do our jobs.
I have known Doug Woods for some 35 years having seen him growing up in the law enforcement community in various positions with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. I have worked with the various sheriff’s that have sat in the position of Sheriff since the days of Rex Johnson. All of the sheriff’s during that time have been instrumental in seeing that their agency was professional, competent, and worthy of holding the job of Sheriff of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
My experience with Doug Woods was brought forth when I have seen him in action in the helping of many departments when those departments have suffered with the loss of one of their own. Doug Woods was a caring, competent, professional as he handled the job of coordinating the efforts of showing the respect to those that lost a fellow officer.
I think Doug will be another example of a caring, competent, professional in the job of Sheriff of Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
I wish him all the best in his new endeavors.
Sincerely,
William C. Delaney
