Touch is a primary way babies communicate and feel secure. Massage offers dads an opportunity for meaningful skin-to-skin contact, which releases oxytocin (the “love hormone”) in both dad and baby, enhancing their emotional connection.

Day 29 of 30 The classic rice sensory bin. (Bless my rice and the YEARS of service it has given 🤣) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Comment: BOUNDARY for my directions on how to help kids learn how to play with sensory bins (without making a mess). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I know this is may be a hard pass for you. I know you see instant disaster and mess and something you don’t want to deal with. I get that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let me explain to you why that doesn’t happen at my house (and please note: I’ve had 20+ toddlers come through my house, of varying ability levels and temperament). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I teach them how to use sensory bins. I don’t expect them to intrinsically know or be able to control their natural impulses. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So I sit with them. I teach them. I guide them. I help them find success. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Because I know that once I have them able to play within a boundary, the magic of sensory bins is unlocked. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The magic of multi age play. The magic of tactile learning. The magic of me being able to cook without a toddler crawling up my leg. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sensory bins are magic…. But necessarily at first.
