A huge BPSW thank you to the amazing folks at Ol'Gringo Chile Co., for generously choosing to raise $300 for BPSW. They whipped up a special batch of their limited edition This Salsa Saves Lives recipe, and shared the proceeds with local rescues. YUM!

“You ain’t got no legs, Lt. Dan!” Well, to be fair, he has 2 front legs and 2 half back legs. And we just adore him! This boy was brought into the local shelter as a feral cat in a trap. He was so fluffy no one realized he was missing his back legs until they sedated him for TNR sterilization surgery. The shelter went ahead and neutered him and then asked if anyone could help with placement. This boy had already endured life on the streets being born like this - we wanted to give him his safety forever. He loves his other kitty friends and happily makes his way all around his home, including the enclosed catio! And he is NEVER late for a meal. This is his favorite bowl in his favorite eating spot. ❤️ He does not want to be picked up but he is very happy to accept lots of pets and scritches right before he eats. We love you, Lt. Dan!

We have a very exciting DOUBLE ADOPTION announcement today, and we could not be happier!

Spring and Meadow came from the shelter after their human had a very serious health crisis. As soon as we met these girls we could tell they had been very loved and we felt compelled to keep them together and find another amazing home for them. Well, that day is today!

This cat-savvy couple recently suffered the loss of their beloved senior kitty but knew they couldn’t live without kitties in their home. They’d been seeing Spring and Meadow and felt their cage card was almost written for them.

So today we happily watched as these girls are getting the chance at love again. We hope with some decompression and a lot of love and comfort, these girls will show themselves to be the perfect companions we know that they are. I know every single one of our dedicated adoption center volunteers are going to miss this gentle pair.

It was a sad day today at the BPSW sanctuary. RooPaul, our beautiful rooster, passed away in his sleep.

It was the summer of 2022 and the sign on the bulletin board at the feed store read "Free rooster". Knowing very well that some people who take free roosters and hens have less than good intentions, we contacted the number on the poster and offered to take the rooster in. Roo was never anything but a kind and happy bird, though he never wanted to get too close to us. He lived with us in Las Cruces for a little over three years, and then several months ago he moved from Las Cruces to our satellite sanctuary in Tucson, where he was under the care of our board member Susan, who is far more knowledgeable about birds than we Las Cruces cat people are.

Two days ago Roo seemed to be a little low energy, and just as we were going to make an appointment for him to see a vet, we found our beautiful boy had died in his sleep overnight. We loved him very much and he will be missed. Rest easy RooPaul - you were a beautiful boy.
