Endless Forms Game
02/22/2026
Endless Forms is slowly emerging from its winter dormancy, and we are excited to join the Asombro Institute for their "Art in the Park" event on April 11th.
They'll be celebrating desert-inspired art from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park with a host of free activities including nature journaling, fiber arts, clay works, collage, and watercolor.
The LCHS Mariachi Band will also be performing after a short ribbon-cutting ceremony for the park's new amphitheater at 10:00.
We'll have Endless Forms merchandise for sale, including booster packs that give you a chance to get one of our own incredible artist's cards featuring the wonderful work of Kay Gross (FireForge Art Glass), Shaunna Foster ( on Instagram), Katie Mena ( on Instagram), and Rob Wu.

El Chupacabra can be yours! Come to Asombro's "The Desert After Dark" event this Saturday, October 11th and collect this exclusive giveaway along with 4 other free Endless Forms cards.
There will be plenty for both adults and kids to enjoy at this free outdoor event at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park. Meet a Great Horned Owl, go on a bat walk at 6:30 with bat researchers from NMSU, see specimens from the NMSU Wildlife Museum, watch a scorpion glow and learn about UV fluorescence, make a bat mask, get your face painted, and enjoy the scenery as evening settles over the desert.
Find El Chupacabra at our Endless Forms table!
The excellently camouflaged Creosote Bush Walkingstick not only looks like a stick, it acts like one too.
When forced to move from their motionless ruse, these bugs keep up the act by swaying from side to side just like a windblown stem.
They also change color as they grow to better match the stems they happen to be the same size as. Babies are a bright green to match the thinnest, freshest sprigs growing at each branch tip.The orange coloration of the skinny adult males matches the newer stems of the creosote, and the gray color of the thicker females helps them blend in with the older, thicker branches. Amazing!
These phasmids are one of the few animals that are able to eat the leaves of the creosote, a widespread shrub that dominates large areas in the Chihuahuan Desert and whose waxy leaf coating gives our rain its fresh, fragrant smell. Creosote Bush Walkingsticks are more common than you might think, you just have to go looking for them. Give it a try when you're around the rain bush!
This is one of a handful of cards with "Just a..." abilities, which protect these species from the first predation at their habitat each turn due to their deceptive survival strategies.
Watch this basic tutorial video for a simple demo of Endless Forms!
In crude fashion I will guide you through a few turns of the game. Keep in mind that, in effort to make the basic operations of the game clear, I made the most boring plays.
Once you get these simple steps down, the richness of the game comes from the way that each card allows you to bend or break these rules in some way.
As always, if you have questions about a rule or specific game scenario, don't hesitate to message us - we'd love to know how your playing experience is going!
Emma ( on IG) pulled a 1 in 500 booster pack yesterday! Very well deserved, as she and her partner were volunteering for the Asombro Institute, sharing their biology expertise with the public at Wildlife Conservation Day. Congratulations and enjoy the master set of all nine artist's cards!
And not to worry, we plan to make 1 or 2 more special packs (not god packs, but demi-god packs?) to shuffle into the pile. Make sure to let us know if you find something you're excited about in your pack!
What would we do without friends and family? Thanks to them, we assembled hundreds of booster packs full of new cards this weekend.
We even threw in one "god pack" with all 9 hyper-rare artist's cards for funsies.

We're fortunate to be able to reveal another artist collab and add even more eye-popping cards to our collection. Check out these two new borderless artist's cards by Las Cruces tattoo artist, Katie Mena! Find her on Instagram.
Katie is another kindred spirit whose love for our desert shines through in her detailed body art. The art on the White-Lined Sphinx moth card was taken from a photo of an actual tattoo - heartfelt thanks to Katie and her client for sharing.

As promised, we're stoked to reveal three new artist's cards by Shaunna Foster ( on Instagram).
Shaunna's love for the outdoors and our desert southwest comes through in her unique artwork. The original pieces behind the three card graphics below use recycled road signs as a canvas. Just like the originals, these cards really pop and we absolutely love how they turned out!
Make sure to follow Shaunna for news about when and where you can see her work in Las Cruces.

We're so excited to be adding to our collection of artist's cards in the upcoming Chihuahuan Desert Edition of Endless Forms.
Local watercolor and glass artist Kay Gross generously shared her Gambel's Quail watercolor for our very first artist's card, and we're honored to be able to share two more of her pieces - the New Mexico Hairstreak butterfly (our state butterfly), and another crowd favorite desert bird, the Cactus Wren. Check out and support her work at FireForge Art Studio and FireForge Art Glass.
We'll be revealing 3 more collaborations with some fantastic Cruces artists in the coming weeks. We feel lucky to be able to highlight the work of so many artists, scientists, and photographers who share our love for this unique place.
