🍉 What a way to kick off July! 🍉

We hosted our inaugural watermelon-eating contest with 10 brave contestants, including three special guests from the Largo Police Department! They went rind to rind while residents lined up to cheer them on, and let’s just say the competition got messy. Contestants showed up in full battle gear, goggles, trash bag ponchos and highly questionable eating strategies. 😂

Before all the fun, residents cast their votes for who they thought would win. The crowd favorite? Our culinary director, Robbie!

But when the watermelon juice settled, our winners were:
🥇 First place: Christina N. from our amazing dietary team
🥈 Second place: Robbie, our culinary director
🥉 Third place: Melissa W., our executive director

Word on the street is the Largo Police Department almost arrested Melissa for excessive competitive aggression, but after reviewing the evidence, and the watermelon, they decided to let her off with a warning. 🚔😉

Amid all the flying fruit, the officers still found a quick moment to chat with residents about fraud prevention. Safety first, even during a food fight! Huge shoutout to Officer Quattlebaum, Officer Bowling and Megan S. for joining the chaos and helping make it such a sweet and seed-sensational day! 🍉

Stepping away from the screen and going back to activities that have always brought people together is so important.
