Adverse driving conditions are unexpected hazards not known at dispatch that delay safe travel.
Examples: fog, black ice, snow, accidents, closures, dust storms, flooding.

What the rule allows (FMCSA 395.1(b)):
🔹 +2 hrs driving time
🔹 +2 hrs on-duty time
⚠ The 14-hour window does NOT extend

Driver responsibilities:
✔ Reduce speed & increase following distance
✔ Use headlights/hazards
✔ Stop if unsafe
✔ Notify dispatch
✔ Add ELD note: “Adverse Driving Conditions – location – delay”
