Texas A&M AgriLife Extension - Webb County
06/18/2026
While recent rainfall and current conditions may not have us thinking about drought, experience has shown that drought can develop quickly and have lasting impacts on ranching operations, agriculture, and natural resources throughout our region. Preparing before drought conditions arrive is one of the most effective ways to protect your land, livestock, and livelihood.
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service's Drought Proofing the Ranch course provides practical, research-based strategies to help ranchers, landowners, and agricultural producers develop drought management plans, evaluate risk management tools, implement livestock and rangeland management practices, prepare for wildfire threats, and make sound economic decisions during dry periods. This self-paced online course equips participants with the knowledge needed to reduce risk, minimize losses, and build long-term resilience for their operations.
