Lansing Fire Department

The Lansing Fire Department wants to send a HUGE thank you to the students and staff of Cumberland Elementary School. Truck 41 and members of the Fire Marshalls’s division stopped by to give a little demonstration on fire safety to the younger students and gave each of them a chance to step into our shoes (or boots). Can’t wait to visit again!

As firefighters, we realize that not every structure fire is the same and not every structure fire goes perfectly. That’s where FGS or Fire Ground Survival training comes in. Firefighters must be able to exit structures quickly and safely should conditions decline. That often means bailing out of windows, squeezing through tight spaces or crawling through uncomfortable conditions. These trainings teach firefighters to remain calm under pressure and ensure a safe exit.
