A Football Player’s Descent Into Pain and Paranoia 09/28/2018

This is a tragic story that ran in yesterday's New York Times. Sadly, it has become all too typical. Traumatic brain injury robs its victims of who they once were and for the family, is terrible to witness. We are very proud to be in partnership with Eisenhower Center. Since 1993, they have rehabilitated veterans of the military who have faced TBI. They are renowned for their work with the NFL, and its former players, with facilities at their home in Ann Arbor, and in Jacksonville, FL. The NFL states that almost 30% of players retired from the League suffer, or will suffer, conditions related to brain injury. Thank you, Eisenhower Center for the work you do.

A Football Player’s Descent Into Pain and Paranoia Daniel Te’o-Nesheim, who played four seasons in the N.F.L., was found dead at age 30 and later diagnosed with C.T.E. He left behind a paper trail of his struggles dealing with the injuries caused by playing the game he loved.

Time to immunize 08/15/2018

We are so very proud of this initiative, along with Ingham County Health Department, Parent Information Network - PIN, Franny Strong Foundation, and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. With the CDC recently announcing Michigan was among 21 states being monotored for measles outbreaks, a preventable disease, today's news conference was timely. Our kids-both school and college age-need their immunizations, especially as they return as students.

Time to immunize The Ingham County Health Department is reporting that many vaccine-preventable illnesses are occurring in alarming numbers across Michigan and the U.S.
