Follow this link to see the best animation video Mrs. Harkness and I have ever had submitted by a student in our 7 years of teaching this New Tech project, Animating Coevolution. Kayla drew each frame individually (over 500 images) using her digital drawing pad and then recorded her informational script over top using flipaclip. In this project, the kids had to pick a geologic time period, communicate its importance to 2nd graders, and craft an animation lasting at least 1.5 minutes. With each cohort, it's been exciting to see freshmen get more and more confident using digital materials as tools for this assignment, as we started in 2016 with everyone utilizing paper cut outs and point-and-shoot-cameras. But man, this one blew us away.
