Officer Spotlight: Officer Jameel Jones

When he's not serving the Lansing community, Officer Jones is helping the next generation reach their goals on the track. A lifelong runner and accomplished USATF Masters athlete, he has spent more than a decade coaching local student athletes, developing state champions and mentoring young people throughout the Lansing area.

"Track and field was my ticket to get out of the City of Detroit, Jones said. “I had a village that helped me get where I am today, and I want to return the favor. I believe it takes a village."

At the Lansing Police Department, our officers bring their passions with them whether that's coaching, mentoring, spending time outdoors, or giving back to the community they serve.
