The MEDC Region 6 team was recently in Flint helping to facilitate stakeholder engagement. While in town, they made sure to stop by one of the community’s standout success stories: the Flint Farmers’ Market.
This vibrant, community‑driven space continues to showcase the power of strategic investment and local partnership. The market’s relocation and redevelopment, supported in part by the MEDC, sparked new energy in downtown Flint, supporting small businesses, increasing foot traffic, and providing a welcoming hub for residents and visitors alike.

The City of Hart is embracing a fresh new look with major downtown infrastructure improvements and exciting entrepreneurial momentum. As a certified Redevelopment Ready Community (RRC), Hart is actively leveraging the full MEDC toolbox to strengthen its downtown and support local business growth. During a recent visit, City Manager Nichole Kleiner shared these impressive improvements with MEDC staff and highlighted how strategic investments are shaping the city’s future.
Hart received a $1 million Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) Fund Public Place-Based Infrastructure award to transform its downtown district, including a new multi-use plaza designed for concerts, festivals, and community events. In total, the project is activating 35,700 square feet of public space with a $2.2 million capital investment. The community anticipates debuting the space during their Independence Day celebrations this July.
Local business owner Nobel Graham-Lattin, of Birch & Blossom, also shared how a $25,000 Match on Main grant supported an interior expansion—creating a beautiful, flexible venue ideal for weddings, events, and a growing floral business.
