Director of Education & History Valerie Marvin recently spoke at the Scott Club, a 143 year old cultural center, about Senator Eva McCall Hamilton, Michigan’s first female legislator. Hamilton trained as a teacher, belonged to a Grand Rapids educational society, and introduced a bill to create a teacher pension system in 1921.
