One local college student and Dexter native is fixing to make history ― one complex welding fabrication at a time.

Mikala Sposito, a 21-year-old attending Washtenaw Community College, will be the first woman to represent the U.S. as a welding competitor at the 48th WorldSkills Competition this September in Shanghai, China.
