at the Hancock Turfgrass Research Center: “With all the recent rain a little vent with the pencil tines to help with infiltration.
Michigan State University Research dating back to the 1980s and 90s (Murphy & Rieke) demonstrated that solid-tine aeration can increase surface infiltration by improving macropore continuity. More recent studies continue to support this, showing that while solid-tine cultivation can improve infiltration compared to no cultivation, its effects are often smaller and less persistent than more disruptive practices that address organic matter and deeper soil structure.”
