It’s not just people looking for any way to cool down during the summer heatwave. The wildlife cooldown checklist goes something like this:

💧 A good soak
🌳 Shade naps
🙈 Avoid responsibilities until sunset

And honestly? We get it.

But those survival strategies depend on healthy habitats with water, shade and shelter—which is one more reason protecting wild spaces matters.

Want to help your wildlife neighbors? Leave out a shallow dish of clean water and add a few stones for bees, butterflies and other small creatures to safely land, drink and escape if needed.

➡️ Swipe through to see some local animals doing their best to beat the summer heat. ☀️ Stay cool, Michigan. 😎

From fishing to farms, nature's impact on Michigan's economy is probably bigger than you think. 🌳💵

Whether it’s agriculture, transportation, tourism or another outdoor industry, nature generates billions (with a B!) in economic activity – and supports hundreds of thousands of jobs across the Midwest. And when we invest in our natural areas, we can support these jobs, lower infrastructure costs and protect the natural systems that industries and families rely on every day.
